What We Do
Most independent labels are just distribution pipelines. They upload your music and send you a check. We're different. We treat every release as a campaign — from artwork and positioning to platform strategy and long-term career planning.
We work with artists who are serious about their craft and ready to treat their music like a business without losing the soul of it.
How We Work
- Artist Positioning — Defining the lane, the sound, and the story before a single track is released
- Release Strategy — Timing, singles, playlist campaigns, and cross-platform coordination
- Visual Identity — Artwork, photography direction, and brand consistency across every touchpoint
- Distribution — We handle getting the music everywhere: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, and more
- Analytics & Iteration — We track performance and adapt the strategy based on what's actually working
Core Principles
Quality Over Quantity
One great release beats ten forgettable ones. We'd rather miss a quarter than push something we're not proud of.
Artist Ownership
You own your masters. Your royalties. Your brand. We're a partner, not a gatekeeper.
Transparent Operations
No confusing royalty statements. No hidden fees. Our splits are clear and our reporting is real-time.
Long-Term Thinking
We don't chase trends. We build careers. That means sometimes saying no to a quick buck so we can protect the long arc.
The Founder
AJ (AJTheDev)
Founder · Artist · Developer
Developer by trade, artist by passion. AJ built the label he wished existed — one that combines technical infrastructure with genuine creative understanding. Rather than outsourcing the music to a team, AJ lives it: writing, producing, and releasing under his own artist project AJTheDev.
PatchNotes Records is an extension of that — a label built with developer precision and artist empathy, for artists who want the same thing.
What We're Looking For
We don't sign genres, we sign people. But we do have a type: artists who show up with a point of view, who know what they're building and why. If that sounds like you, reach out.
